For the world is but a vapour

On Monday morning, I woke up to find half a bottle of Colt 45 in my laundry basket, my legs covered in bruises of various sizes and a beer keg and two balloons in our shower. These were all the remnants of our epic SPRIIIINGGG BREEEAAAAKK 98' house party on Sunday night. It was messy, but only in the best possible way. I can’t even begin to calculate how many people squeezed into our apartment but it was definitely enough for the security bloke to come knocking on our door.

Sarah, Brandon and I decked out the apartment in random decorations and gorgeous fairy lights lining the walls, and Tara made us the most delicious cheese tray I’ve ever had the pleasure of scoffing. I couldn’t enough of the goats’ cheese smeared across a mini cracker with a grape on top, as recommended by Sarah. So good!

The highlights (or what I vaguely remember) were The Oohlas performing the most stunning acoustic set thus far, and everyone joining in to sing along to Small Parts like one big choir. Although I’m fairly certain I spoiled it by shouting “BROWN PARTS!” a few times.

I downed about 23423 jello shots that hadn’t even set and drank Bud Lite straight from the beer keg for the first time in my life. Speaking of which, Dan Keyes sure knows how to fucking party. As soon as he walked through the door the first thing he did was drop his coat and do a keg stand. I held his left leg. I was worried it was going to snap because it felt like a matchstick.

Half of Fall Out Boy also showed up and I had a really great chat with a very lovely Pete Wentz. He’s a cool guy, I’ve never really spoken to him much whenever I’ve met him before, but he was just really sweet and funny. I even managed to convince him to take a photo against the famous Purple Wall.

Prior to Sunday, I hopped around to a lot of different gigs and holiday parties. On Thursday I watched Army Of Me open for Nightmare Of You at Studio B in Brooklyn. I’ve never been to this venue before and I loved it, it’s SO big and has a great set up, everything is spread out around this massive dancefloor.

Afterwards we headed back to Annex for the last ever ST night (insert tear) where we found a rather tipsy Dan Keyes and pulled lots of Spriiing Breeeaaak faces.

This is Penta and Vince from Army of Me. They’re long lost curly haired twins.

On Friday afternoon I skipped out of work to see The Oohlas perform an instore acoustic performance at Urban Outfitters. I almost wet myself because I was so excited to see them.

Louise was in town, so I met up with her afterwards for a few cocktails before heading to The Mercury Lounge for The Oohlas first ever New York gig. The show was absolutely magical. At the end of their set I turned to Louise and lifted her jaw up off the floor. Ollie is an absolute star on stage. Some performers spend their whole careers trying to be that uber cool front person that everyone wants to emulate, but Ollie doesn’t even have to try, she’s just got it. It’s innate and leaves everyone in complete awe of her.

After the show Louise and I went to the Crush Management holiday party where we met up with Kanani and Jo.

I couldn't stay long as I had to run back to Revolver to DJ but by the time I got there I was pretty drunkededed and was still suffering the shittest of shit coughs, so around 3am I handed my earphones over to Le Husky G and Brandon and retired for the night.

The following evening I went to Videoland where The Oohlas were performing at the Shindig party. I have to say, it was one of the most bizarre parties/gigs I've ever been to and was set in a redundant store or apartment. There was red lighting throughout the building, crazy amounts of smoke and the room the band performed in was the size of my bedroom, except with a huge window for people to look in from the other side. I felt like I was in some trippy 70's movie. By the end of the band's performance I had full on boob sweat.

I ran home after the show to take care of my boobage sweating situation and headed to MisShapes, where the The Oohlas and Brad Motherfucking Walsh were both performing. As soon as I arrived, I went downstairs and spotted manchild Jackson and couldn't resist the urge to pick him up and carry him around like a trophy.

I joined Karen, Sarah and Jenny to drink any and every drop of booze in sight before heading upstairs for Bradders' performance.

This is Eric - The Oohlas numero uno fano.

I stood at the front of the stage jumping and screaming as Brad shook his tiny arse and sang his queer heart out. It was so much fun, I especially liked the last song which involved him covering Madonna's Hung Up, mixed with a couple of lines from Small Parts by The Oohlas. Shit was banananananas.

By the time The Oohlas set arrived I was on the verge of spontaneous combustion because there was just such a buzz in the atmosphere and everyone was riled up and ready to go apeshit for the band, which they did. It was such a fun night, I wish I could do it all over again.

I've only just about recovered from the weekend. Last night Shruti and I went to the Sean Lennon show at Bowery Ballroom. His voice and songs are so, so beautiful, they make me wish I was in love. Shruti knew pretty much everyone there and introduced me to Sean after the show, as well as Mark Ronson and Francesco Clemente who kept trying to pour rum down my throat and asking me to teach him how to use his Blackberry. Lolz@that.

I've done zero Chrimbo shopping so I'm going to spend the next few days running around like a mad woman before I fly back to the UK on Saturday to see mah fah muh lee. Schmeeep boop bop beeep poopy. Tonight I'll be DJing at Revolver and then again on Friday with Peter Gatson, so swing by for some holiday cheer and all that shit. Pete Wentz was there over the weekend, just before he came to our house party.

Oh yeah, Sarah spotted this as we were shopping for party decorations, but Cat and Ian are featured in the most recent T Mobile advertising campaign! Yay!

PS - Jenny loves aideN
